The Key to Lean Gains: 5 Alpha-Hydroxy-Laxogenin

In this blog post we will be looking in depth at Laxogenin, or as its known chemically as 5 Alpha-Hydroxy-Laxogenin. What is it? How does it work? What can it do for you? Who can use it? How much can you take and when? And our overall thoughts.

Ok, so what is it? It's a steroidal sapogenin, which is a naturally occurring, although in small doses in a plant group related to asparagus, and is a member of 40 plant based steroids known as Brassinosteroids.

How does it work? Laxogenin directly increases nitrogen retention and protein synthesis, while at the same time inhibiting cortisol production and decreasing protein breakdown. It is then proposed due to these factors, it can increase strength, muscle growth and recovery, also reducing the onset of fatigue. It is also important to note that due to it being plant based, it has not been found to interfere with normal hormone production.

What can 5 Alpha-Hydroxy-Laxogenin do for you?

Below are some proposed benefits of taking the appropriate dosages of Laxogenin:

  • Increased protein synthesis and lean mass
  • Decreased Stress
  • Enhanced Recovery
  • Greater strength and power
  • Regulates cortisol levels
  • Limits protein breakdown
  • Combats Inflammation
  • Improves blood sugar regulation

Who can use it? Due to the nature of the supplement and the fact that it is plant based, it has been shown to have little to no effect on the endocrine system. The reason that I'm saying this is because it means it is safe for most users over 18, including women. It is important to note although before adding it to your regular supplement regime to always check with your medical practitioner first.

How much should you be taking and when? From the current studies, it is recommended that you can take between 50-150mg per day, and it is best to be taken split up over the day, half the dosage first thing when waking and the second half of your dosage before bed. A loading phase up to your appropriate dosage may be required to find what works best for you as an individual, and Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is not required as it is non-hormonal.

Our Thoughts and Perceptions: So after all that information if you haven't decided by now whether you should add it to your supplement stack, you're probably wondering what our thoughts are on 5 Alpha-Hydroxy-Laxogenin. Due to the fact that all the studies that have been undertaken so far have only suggested good things and benefits to the user, although more studies are required we would recommend making Laxogenin a staple in your current stack. It can be taken by men and women and isn't required to be cycled, it creates the ideal anabolic environment for anyone looking to better themselves and improve your training capabilities.
